Our Story

Taunton Vineyard was planted in 2000 from Exeter Vineyard. A small group of people who lived in Taunton, but worshipped at Exeter Vineyard, began feeding the poor on the streets of Taunton, and the church grew from there. Bruce and Jenny Gilmore then moved from Truro Vineyard to pastor the church until 2012, when they handed the leadership onto Simon and Rachelle Billington, who had been part of the church since 2004.

Our Team

A variety of people help to make Taunton Vineyard function well. We have leaders in a number of areas from pastors, to ministry leaders (including compassion, worship, children and youth), to small group leaders, to trustees.

We are affiliated to the Vineyard movement of churches, which is rooted in the charismatic renewal and historic evangelicalism. Instead of the mainstream charismatic label, however, Vineyard prefers the term ‘Empowered Evangelicals’ - a people of Word and Spirit. The Vineyard movement in the UK and Ireland is currently led by John and Debby Wright, who also lead Trent Vineyard, Nottingham.
